FAUCET REPAIR
One Drip Per Second Wastes 3,000 Gallons Per Year
A faucet that drips once per second wastes approximately 3,000 gallons of water annually. In Northwest Indiana where water rates continue to rise, that single drip is costing you real money every month. And most faucet drips don't stay at one drip per second — they get worse as the internal components continue to wear.
Faucet problems fall into a few categories: dripping from the spout (a worn cartridge, ball, or seat-and-spring inside the valve), leaking at the base of the spout (a failed O-ring), a loose or stiff handle (worn handle hardware or mineral buildup on the stem), or low pressure from a clogged aerator. Downing Plumbing diagnoses the correct cause and repairs it — we don't guess and replace everything hoping something works.
We work on all major faucet brands and types: ball faucets, cartridge faucets, ceramic disc faucets, and compression faucets in kitchen and bathroom applications. If repair isn't cost-effective — for example, an old faucet where parts are discontinued — we'll let you know and can install a replacement the same day.
