LEAKING FAUCET REPAIR
Where the Faucet Leaks Tells Us What's Wrong
A drip from the spout when the faucet is off means a worn internal valve component — cartridge, ceramic disc, ball, or seat-and-spring depending on the faucet type. These are the moving parts inside every faucet that create a watertight seal when closed. As they wear, they stop sealing completely and water slowly drips through.
A leak at the base of the spout — water pooling around the faucet body on the counter — points to deteriorated O-rings that seal the spout to the faucet body. A leak at or under the handle typically means worn stem packing or a damaged cartridge. Leaks from the supply connections under the sink are a separate issue — loose fittings or worn supply line connections.
Downing Plumbing diagnoses which type of leak you have and repairs the correct component. Many leaking faucet repairs are completed in under an hour with parts we carry on the truck. If a faucet is too old or worn to repair economically, we'll tell you straight and can install a replacement the same day.
