PIPE LEAK REPAIR
A Slow Drip Behind a Wall Is Never Just a Slow Drip
Pipe leaks that aren't visible on the surface are often far more damaging than obvious ones — water wicking through insulation, soaking wall studs, and pooling in floor assemblies for weeks or months before it becomes visible. The signs are often subtle: a soft spot in drywall, a musty smell in a basement, an unexplained increase in your water bill, or water stains appearing on a ceiling below a bathroom. These are signals that a pipe leak is already in progress.
Supply pipe leaks — in copper, PEX, or galvanized lines — occur at joints, fittings, and at points where pipes have corroded, been damaged, or where improper connections were made. Drain pipe leaks occur at trap connections, within walls at drain fittings, and at the joint between the drain stub-out and the drain body of a fixture. Each type requires a different approach to locate and repair.
Downing Plumbing locates the source of the leak, makes the necessary repair to the pipe or fitting, and advises on any secondary moisture damage that needs to be addressed before it causes mold. We repair leaks in copper, PEX, galvanized, CPVC, and ABS pipe systems.
