TOILET NOT FLUSHING
Weak Flush or No Flush — Two Different Problems
A toilet that won't flush at all is usually a mechanical issue — a broken trip lever, a disconnected lift chain, or a flapper that's stuck closed. A toilet that flushes weakly or requires two or three flushes to clear is a different problem: either a clogged trapway restricting flow, a partial main line obstruction, clogged rim jets under the bowl rim, or a flush valve that isn't lifting fully.
Diagnosing which type of problem you have determines the fix. Downing Plumbing opens the tank, checks the flush mechanism, inspects the bowl and rim jets, and — if the flush problem is a clog rather than a mechanical failure — clears the drain as well. We don't just reach for the plunger and call it done; we find out why the toilet isn't flushing correctly and address the actual cause.
If multiple toilets in the house are flushing weakly at the same time, or if drains elsewhere in the house are also slow, that's a main sewer line problem rather than a toilet problem. We'll diagnose it correctly and let you know.
