TOILET REPAIR
Most Toilet Problems Are Simple — If You Know What to Look For
A running toilet wastes 200 gallons of water per day on average — that's a measurable hit on your water bill every month you let it go. A toilet that rocks or wobbles can be slowly damaging the wax seal and the subfloor below. A toilet that doesn't flush properly is a daily inconvenience that compounds if it leads to a backup. These aren't problems to live with, and they're almost always straightforward to fix.
Downing Plumbing repairs all types of toilet problems: fill valve and flapper replacement for running toilets, wax ring and flange repair for leaking or rocking toilets, flush valve replacement for weak or incomplete flushes, and trip lever and handle repair. We carry common repair parts on our trucks, so most toilet repairs are completed during the initial service call without waiting for parts.
If your toilet is old enough that repair parts are hard to source, or if it's had multiple problems in a short period, we'll let you know whether replacement makes more sense economically. Modern low-flow toilets use 1.28 gallons per flush vs. the 3.5–7 gallons that older models used — a replacement often pays for itself in reduced water bills over several years.
